What a Week, Captain Joji!

What a Week, Captain Joji!

I think this has been one of the most insane two, maybe three weeks for music in the independent circles. Watching Joji leave 88rising is painful for some, but magic overall considering the releases we’ve seen under his own production again. What we’ve received is incredibly reminiscent overall of Chloe Burbank. My real ones know - I know you do!

Joji has come out of a hibernation in the best way possible, I just knew he and the team were cooking in the kitchen. We, in order, were handed PIXELATED KISSES, If It Only Gets Better, and Past Won’t Leave My Bed. I’ve missed this terribly, I really have. Miller’s artistic endeavors are always delightful - everything from Burbank (my beloved), the repeat of Worldstar Money in varying formats of growth across the discography (I missed it in Nectar, frankly), it’s just…fun for me. It ties so deeply into my teenage years and the happier parts of nostalgia, even if the music itself often begs to differ.

Miller delivers devastating blows with new self-production, and as always, I’m obsessed. It’s beyond a pleasure to say the first show I ever worked was Joji’s pandemonium tour, and I am absolutely still living that high. I’ll be living the high of the upcoming release for a while, I’m sure of it.

Thanks forever, Joji. Hope to do it again soon, captain.
